August COVID-19 Updates

COVID-19 Update 14/08/2020

I hope one and all have been keeping well since my last update.  Aside from school exam results and local lock downs in some areas of the UK, some significant changes have been announced in the last few days.

Changes to Lock down

Government decided to put on the brakes on re-opening those parts of the economy that were still deemed a higher risk of spreading COVID-19.  Having dabbed on the brakes and reviewed the position, Government are now confident those parts of the economy which were still closed can now reopen on Saturday (15/08/2020) with additional controls in place.

Quarantine

Many of you will have heard that Government have added to the number of countries which will require returning travellers to isolate for 14 days on their return to the UK.  The full list of quarantine exemptions can be found here.  Advice on a country by country basis can be found here.

If you are travelling, or thinking of travelling, be sure to follow any Government rules on quarantine that applies to you to ensure that the risk of spreading the virus amongst your friends, family, colleagues and neighbours is minimised.

Contact Tracing App

Government have relaunched their contact tracing app and are testing the revised version which should be more effective.  Hopefully this will lead to a national roll out as it will play a vital role in controlling the spread of the virus in the future.

Employing trades persons in your home

If you need to employ a tradesperson to conduct work in your home, the Health and Safety Executive have produced a simple guide which they’ve called Work Safe Safe Work to act as a simple and easy guide for individuals and tradespersons.

As always stay safe.

Kind regards
