14 Nov Bracknell Conservation Volunteers
Here at Warfield Park we are always boasting about the amazing community we have as residents. We have so many wonderful clubs and associations which give people a great excuse to get together for a cup of tea and a natter! It’s just one of the things which have made us one of the most desirable park home addresses in the UK.
The Community Outside
While we like to focus much of our attentions on our site and community, we also like to recognise all of the good work which goes on beyond our gates. There are a number of local volunteer groups who are always looking for people to join them and help them to complete various tasks.
Keeping Bracknell Beautiful
Bracknell Conservation Volunteers are one such group. They are a friendly and informal collection of local residents who carry out conservation work and practical tasks in order to promote wildlife and enhance the local environment.
They meet every Tuesday between 9:30am – 3pm, so it’s the perfect activity for those who don’t work or enjoy giving something back to the community during their retirement. According to their website, you don’t need any experience in any of the tasks, there are experienced and trained people within the group who can provide guidance, when needed.
“If you like to be outdoors, and don’t mind getting muddy, it is great fun – and good exercise too!” Bracknell Conservation Volunteers
The group performs a wide variety of practical tasks such as:
- vegetation clearance
- footpath improvements
- boardwalk construction
- hedge laying
- coppicing
- heathland management
- pond and stream work
- wildflower planting
- creation of wildlife habitats and stag beetle loggeries
What’s the catch?
There is absolutely no catch! No cost or commitment on your part. You may join in every Tuesday, or once a month, or only in summer – whatever suits you. If you would like further information about the Bracknell Conservation Volunteers, or would like to join on a Tuesday task, please contact us.
