26 Nov Park Home Security checklist 🔒🔦🗝️
Are you away or out often? With the darker winter months upon us, it’s the perfect time to review your home security.
Here are a few tips to help keep your park home safe:
Park Home Security Checklist:
Windows & Doors
- Make sure you lock your windows or at the very least keep them closed when you’re not in.
- Is your front door double or deadlocked?
- Are all doors to your home securely locked?
- Are valuable items such as jewellery, car keys, laptops, iPads, cash, and phones out of sight.
- Keep chargers and cables for laptops/iPads hidden from view.
Interior:
- Are your inside lights on a timer or smart bulb with a timer?
- Is your home alarm system activated?
- Are your door keys kept out of sight but within reach in case of emergency?
- If you’re going away, consider drawing your curtains when you leave. Ask a trusted neighbour to open them for you in the morning to make it look like someone’s home.
Exterior:
- Are your outside lights on motion sensors?
- Are your sheds, side gates, garages, and outbuildings locked?
- Have you trimmed tall hedges around your home to improve visibility?
- Is packaging from expensive items, such as laptops, tablets, phones, and game consoles, kept out of sight?
- Are your vehicles locked, and are valuables removed?
- Are tools and items that could be used to break in, such as bricks, ladders, or garden equipment, stored securely?
- Have you created a written and photographic record of any items of value (both financial and sentimental)?
Deliveries:
- If you’re expecting a delivery, ask a neighbour to take in parcels rather than leaving them outside where they can be easily seen or stolen.
Neighbourhood Watch:
- Have you joined your local Neighbourhood Watch group?
- Let your neighbours know if you’re going away for a while to help keep an eye on your home.
Additional Tips:
- Consider investing in a Ring video doorbell or similar security system to monitor
