01 Oct Social Spotlight: Garden Club
Welcome to the latest edition of our Social Spotlight series of blogs. Warfield Park is situated in the beautiful leafy grounds of what used to be Windsor Great Park. So, it would be remiss of us if we didn’t speak about one of the social clubs which contributes to the aesthetic of our site so much.
The Garden Club is one of the longest running social clubs at the park and has been equipping our residents with the skills and tips to keep their area of the park beautiful for more than 30 years. Previously on the committee, long term resident Doreen Beale took over as Chairperson in March this year (2019).
The Garden Club welcomes all newcomers. There is no age limit (at either end of the spectrum), if you have an interest in nature, gardening or even budding green fingers, make sure you come along and get involved.
To join the club it is £5 for the year with a £2 fee paid for each meeting. Guests pay £2.50 and are invited to come to two meetings as a guest to help them decide whether or not to join for the year.
The Garden Club has 10 meetings per year and meets on the last Tuesday of the month at 7.30pm in the hall. In August some of the members run the tombola stall at the Warfield Park annual fete, this fete is hosted by the Community Committee and all residents (and non-residents alike) are welcome to join in the festivities.
It is a very friendly club and meetings often include interesting speakers from the gardening world and monthly gardening tips to help you to keep your green space looking fresh and beautiful throughout the year. Tea, coffee and biscuits are provided and they run a monthly raffle.
If you have green fingers and are interested in meeting up with likeminded people once a month, make sure you pop along on the last Tuesday of the month at 7.30pm or keep a look out around the park for posters and details of their next meeting.
