11 May Warfield Electrification
At Warfield Park, we are making a significant investment in electric vehicle (EV) charging points for all our rented park homes in Harvest Lea, our dedicated rental area, and on all our new park homes from 2023.
We have already installed 15 new EV charging points to our rental properties, with the remainder to be done over the next three years. Over a similar period, we will be expanding with a further 82 new park homes being installed, all of which will have EV charging points.
Set in 90 acres of mature and maintained parkland, we are one of the largest parks of our kind in the UK with just over 500 park homes. Of these, over 400 are privately owned and 75 rented.
We recently welcomed Cllr Dorothy Hayes MBE, cabinet member for the environment at Bracknell Forest Council, to an event at Warfield Park to mark the launch of the initiative. She said: “Climate change has to be on every agenda; it is an significant threat to the planet and has to be addressed if we are not going to see more of the extreme weather events experienced recently, such as the record temperatures over the summer and the recent massive flooding in Pakistan. The Council are matching the Government’s target to be carbon neutral by 2050.
“This is a fantastic initiative by Warfield Park, one of several we have completed in recent years in conjunction with the Council, and will enable residents to do their bit to address climate change.”
“This is a significant investment for the Park,” said James Sumner, associate director at Warfield Park. “But we understand that our tenants and residents want to respond to climate change, and we are enabling them to do so. Currently one-in-five of all new car sales are hybrid or all-electric.
“We have implemented a number of initiatives in recent years to address climate change at Warfield Park leading us to win several awards.”
We were awarded Regional Housing Association/Landlord of the Year at the South East Energy Efficiency Awards last year, social responsibility award at the national Energy Efficiency & Healthy Homes Awards in 2017, and the boiler and heating project award at the National Energy Efficiency Awards in 2019.
Think Ford Bracknell kindly supplied an all-electric Mustang Mach-E car to feature in the photographs and try out the charging points.
